wiped!

Warning GEEKY POST.

Yep! That is what happened to one of my hard disks last night. The whole 120 GB was wiped.

That was the result of me keh kiang trying to boot Linux from a USB hard disk. I thought it was all simple, just like installing Linux in another partition of the same hard disk. But I WAS WRONG!

Installing Linux from a USB Hard Disk ain't the same. It is the same when your USB Hard Disk is connected to the system, however you g3t stuck into a pile of shyt when your USB Hard Disk is removed when booting.

I tweaked here n there n stuff. Until mana tahu, I carelessly deleted the wrong partitions! I deleted the contents of Drive E instead of Drive I(the USB Hard Disk Drive).

Anyways its my first time blogging from a laptop. Yeah sakai yah. First time bring a laptop out into the open too. And currently it is 9.21 am. Thought I could enjoy the breeze whilst surfing. But nah.. Minor annoyance found. The laptop screen glares(I don't know if Im using the word 'glare' properly here) and it aint very pleasing!

That's it for now first..

BREAKFAST TIME!

Please Brunei, learn to love dogs

I came across this sad video. Linked from Rano's if I have not mistaken.

Warning: The video consists of ain't-very-pleasing images if you know what I mean!!

I too, had one of my dogs killed by poison. I still remember the day that dog of mine died.

At that time, coming back home meant being greeted at the gate by 2 of my dogs. Lucy the German Shephard and Bingo the mixed breed one. They'd run towards me. Occassionally they would jump up to me too. I'd then guide them to their dens first, so that I could drive my car in(Who knows, they might run out of the house and attack a passerby while Im driving)

Anyways, on that fateful day. None of them came and greeted me by the gate. I called for em. But still no response. Something really wasn't right. I searched and searched around the whole compound for em. Still no sound, no sight of em. Then among the bushes, I spotted one of my dogs. He was just sitting there in a guarding-something posture. I called for him, he just ignored me. Then.. I saw it. She(Lucy) was lying there, with her tongue out. Her tongue was black (indication of poison). She was all fine in the morning, running about and all. It was IMPOSSIBLE to be a natural death.

The sight still haunts me. I so wish I could bash the f*ktard that did this. She was innocent. All she did was guard the house. Never did she cause any havoc or was a potential danger to the neighbourhood. For your info, I never let her out of my compound. I just could not think of a possible reason why you harmed my pet.
A German Shephard source

That is the fate of dogs in Brunei I guess. I've heard of many more similar cases as to dogs being poisoned. Seeing the carcasses of dogs lying dead isn't a rare sight here. Sights of stones being thrown to dogs is pretty common too. I saw that with my own eyes too. Groups of Malay boys coming over just to throw stones at my dogs. I think it is one of the actions that Bruneians (esp children) do when they see dogs, besides shouting at them or some other 'trying-to-get-the-dog's-attention' action. I don't know, maybe they just want to provoke them to start a possible chase? Maybe they love the thrill of being chased by dogs. Ahh.. what if you lost the chase? Do you know the consequences?

"Some dogs just chase wah with/without provoking"

Yeah yeah.. I know,.. Its true. Some dogs are mad. But not all dogs are mad. I always get extra careful when I see a stray dog nearby. I'd try my best not to provoke it in anyways. Just for your info, running past a sleeping dog or a dog that is eyeing you is not a very brilliant idea btw. That would excite the dog and prompt it to chase you.

There were 2 recent cases of stray dogs attacking ppl. It seems to me that the media seems to be more to the victims'(The bitten one) side. I don't have proper proof of this but you know, animals(esp. unwild animals such as dogs), do not attack unless provoked.

" If it ain't provoked, then it must 'sot' liao lah. Its a 'sot' one that attacked"

OK a possibility. But wait, if 'sot', why not others are attacked? You the only one who lived in that kampong ah?

"No lah.. Many ppl live here lah"

How come, those attacked are always the younger ones eh? Ohh, they were attacked while going back to school? Mate, you do not have a car to bring ur child?

" No car bah "

No car ah? Means ur child walks to n from school very often eh? If yeah, means the stray dogs were sent from heaven on the very day he/she( i forgot) was bitten huh?

" No lah.. They were there long time sudah "

Har.. No? Meaning you saw dogs in that area already before? Meaning they aint crazy before. So meaning the dogs went crazy on the day it decided to bite ?! So how many did it bit that day?

" 1 eh. You saw the news reported one mah "

1? Ohh.. so it just went crazy on that particular time during the day. Walao.. u damn lucky lah. Hope over the border and go buy lottery man, Im sure no problem for u. Sap sap water. Kena liao, can buy car leh.

"Eh no.. maybe a few more. They attacked when the reporters went into jamban for toilet break"

-.-""

To be honest, other possibilities do exist too lah. I might be wrong. Anyways that is just what I think. The key to solving this problem is not to kill dogs whenever u see them and think of dogs as some crazy biting machine that chases anything down. I think the mentality of most Bruneians is already like that in this department. Dogs have life too. They have the right to live. Like the video said, "Dogs do not know religion", and many other stuff that made sense.

Innocence source

The most applicable solution in this case is to take extra precaution when you see stray dogs, or enter into a house guarded by dogs. Keep in mind, never to provoke them. If they still persist in barking or still have a i-wanna-attack posture. Be wise lah. Use another route, or wait till the dog leaves the area. Another more ambitious solution that is always mentioned would be to collect all the strays and place them on a piece of land, or let them be adopted. I really dread the day that the government comes out with a rule to kill all strays or all dogs! I really hope that would not happen.

Once again, please please please don't harm the dogs. Learn to love them, Brunei.

Satu Roti Telur

I had a bad experience today at a restaurant.

Nah murtabak somemore lah..

Was craving for murtabak, so went to this never-been-to-restaurant.

The manager who was there, served us.

First eww: He took out his handkerchief and blew his nose in it. Put it back.

He went over to the drinks corner, and I realised he was the one who was gonna make ours drinks. OK, nvm, maybe he washed his hands already.

All of a sudden..
source

"HA CHEEEEE!~"

Second eww: The "Ha CHEEE!! " came from the drinks corner. Not once but twiced. Eww.. It was so damn loud somemore! Twice! Above aku punya Teh-C. Walao..

We of course, decided to take the best possible solution under that circumstance rather than abruptly walking out. So we cancelled the drinks, opting for canned drinks instead.

More customers came in the restaurant. Ordered Mee Goreng with Ayam, I suppose. Hoho.. guess who did the chopping of the whole ayam into pieces for the Mee Goreng. THE DAMN UNHYGIENIC Manager!

3rd eww: He held the chicken meat in his bare hands somemore! NO GLOVES! WHAT! Half way through, his nose fluids must have went out of control as he got some tissue and he blew into it ! He then placed the tissue next to the chicken meats, and continued chopping!! No Dettol + water washing of hands leh!

YUCK!

I was starting to lose my appetite then.

Then came the murtabak. Ahh.. Murtabak panas panas. Served by different ppl la. Phew..

4th eww: Sekali, mana tahu, the one who served back, on his walk back sneezed similarly so damn loud! WALAO! I had a feeling the whole restaurant is flu-infected man. What if the chef also kena?!

Of course, Didnt finished my dish.

Paid exactly what we have to pay, as I don't wana have any hand contact with the manager(who was also casheir) in the form of change.

Mr Unhygienic: $4.20
Me: Here
Mr Unhygienic: Thank you. Please do come again.

Eh uncle, look at my unfinished plates and my facial expression la.. Do I look like a satisfied customer who would come back again? LOL

I decided there and then that hygiene is really damn important when considering whether or not to go into a restaurant. Not worth it if go in the restaurant healthy, come out getting sick.

Hmm.. di mana we can get clean Murtabaks ah? (You know how most of these shops look like) C.A. Mohammad looks like a nice, clean place.. Anywhere else?

blog please bern

"OI blog blog.. lama tak blog sudah "
Haha that is what my brain keeps telling me..

Status updates from the last post,
Throat infection: I've won the last war against those damn throat germs!

PC Virus infection: I've decided that reformatting is the best solution. Yep, my PC acts like a brand new one now!

Health update:
Walao right after the throat infection, I was hit by the some food poisoning. It started with a super painful head in the morning. Giddiness too. My first attempt at breakfast went out of my stomach in the form of vomit. My 2nd and 3rd attempts went out too. The passages en route to the toilet bowl included my nose too. Ewww.. I know. I did it on purpose hahahaaha...

Something aint right. Off to the doctor. Could not even drive at that time. Super dizzy and painful.
Doctor suspected 'food poisoning'. Even had an injection just to stop the vomiting.

Vomiting halted after that. But was still experiencing throbbing pain in the head.

Went home. Slept slept slept.

Luckily was fine the next day. It was the longest ever duration slept in a day. Mind you, I don't really like sleep. Hahaha.. I'd always be rather doing something.

Hmm.. what else? ahh.. food of course
.
I've tried the "Mee Rebus" from D'Other Office (mentioned in the previous previous post). Damn delicious.. nah.. cannot use damn.. I've never tried Mee Rebus from wherever yet. Although it was delicious, the portion was so little! It makes it a great tea-time meal kua.. definitely not a good dinner/lunch choice.
yummy Mee Rebus(source)

I had the "Coconut Fresh Beehoon" for 4 days in a row! Nuts eh? Not really la.. Its damn delicious! Portion also not that much, though definitely more satisfying than that Mee Rebus portion-wise. If ur a big eater, u must must must go "Coconut Beehoon tambah ah"

Emm.. visit updates?

My dad brought me to the mini-temple situated somewhere around Muara. Im sure everyone knows the Bandar temple.
Don't know why, I decided to snap a few pics.

The entrance. Temple's up the hill

Walk up from the parking area to head to the temple.
Lazy ppl can just drive directly up and park back of the temple kua.

Welcome to the Muara temple

What do we do in a temple?
I hope it don't sound silly. But I was sure dumbfounded when I once brought my so-called Buddhist friend to a temple, and he was so lost. He didn't know what to do at all. Walao!
So the steps below for the Muara temple.

Jossticks, papers to be burned and candles.

Right after getting the proper no. of jossticks, usually 3 sticks each altar,
find a candle, light em up

First altar usually to start off.
I bet it will look and feel super to be here during early mornings.

The deities inside. 3 altars altogether. Can start from anywhere I guess.
Middle is the more common one. The red pads are for you to kneel on.
(PS: I dare not take closeup pics of those deities for fear of offending them)

Notice the red pagoda thing.
This is where we burn those papers(from the above pic) inside.

Yeap done. End of temple adventure.

Took these pics when I woke up early on one of those rare days.

Thick fog

Hmm.. a mesh-all-into-one post. Haha..

It stops here anyways.

Good day ppl!

Btw, congrats to Chun on the arrival of junior Chun!! All the best man. God bless.
