the final 2 weeks!

hi hi hey hey..

Its been ages since i last posted. It is roughly the final 2 weeks of my student life. The big 10 units project is finally done and dusted. Thank God.

I had the project presentation this past Monday. A lot of thoughts ran through my mind preceding that day. Main reason is I have not done any presentations yet this semester. I thought I would be real rusty and would have trouble calming my nerves. Basically a ton of negative thoughts accompanied me days preceding that Monday.

However, I survived thus, I can pretty much sum the conclusion up that my brain has the tendency to exaggerate negative thoughts pretty badly. I don't know. How about yours? hahaha..

Anyways, a MAJOR phase(Student) of my life is coming to an end. Now, its time to face the REAL world I guess. On one hand, I am actually quite excited. Why?
  • At last I can do what I want(hopefully) to do.
  • It'll be the time when stuff I do will directly impact the society. Studying never offers you that.
  • You get to earn your own money.
On the other hand, its a SCARY! Why?
  • Only 2 weeks of leave per year! Its a far cry from what uni students have, which is about 4 to 4 and 1/2 months of free time.
  • Waking up early! 9 to 5. Damn the long days. LOL. If I were to work in a demanding workplace, I'd even work later. Never mind that, compare the 9 to 5 with a uni's student daily life. We NEVER have 9 to 5 classes. Most classes start late. Days finish earlier.
Hahaha.. anyways that's life. Gonna face it sooner or later? Another alternative is just to be a vegetable that is slowly rotting. Do nothing, goyang kaki. I know quite a number of veges. Seems like veges can definitely survive in such a relaxed country as Brunei.

And another random thing , my left ankle started to hurt again after a light workout I had just now. Crap. Its been about half a year since I sprained it. It took ages to heal at first. 2 months I think! In comparison to Rooney, who sprained his ankle but healed in 5 days! What's more, until today, this damn ankle still 'complains' once in a while. It is really frustrating!

Jingles! No its Shingles!

Hey folks, its been a while since I've uploaded a post. :)

Anyways..

About a week ago, I had these electric-shock/sunburnt/pricking/tingling/burning sensation over my upper left side of my body (upper arm and also the chest and back ) whenever anything touched it. It even hurts when shirt lies on top of it! I usually presume pricking sensations with blood circulation problems over the particular area, so I went for the Osim feet massage machine hoping that that would cure it.

But then nop, that did not help..

I tend to get overimaginative at times and that did not help. I was thinking of all the possible causes of this. I went online and read stuff on this. Possibilities were poor blood circulation, stroke, shingles, neuro-smth, bla bla.. couldn't remember a lot of it by now. Haha

The next morning it still felt painful, thus I went to the doc. Doc says its probably an over-sensitive nerve, thus I was prescribed only Vitamin Bs.

Next day, the pain started piercing right into my chest. You know the left side of your chest lies the heart! I initially thought it was just a psychological thing, me imagining stuff, and I tried to ignore it. Hell no, it just kept contracting, piercing. Damn it hurts till my buddy Foo, tried to help by googling "Symptoms of heart attack"! Thanks Foo for "calming" me down hahaha..

Just to be safe, went to the doc again!! LOL. Now doc says muscle thingy, thus was prescribed only muscle relaxants. Those did definitely did help..

However the next day I started to notice small red spots over those "sunburnt" areas. Oh shyt, I suddenly recalled that these are very similar to the symptoms of shingles!! Alright, as sucky as it is to the wallet, I've gotta go to the doc tomorrow!

The next day absolutely sucks. Woke up with a freaking headache. Got extremely intense after about a couple of hrs of waking up. I remember I could hardly WALK. I felt these contraction pains on my stomach area and both my kidneys. Every step I took felt like some kid kicking on my kidneys! No kidding! Oh yeah, met the doctor, and this time, I was officially diagnosed with shingles! Hooray! I was really tired and had fever that night. Pure torture.

Anyways, thank God, I felt much better the next morning and managed to head to class. A bit nauseous and headache added on to the burning pain but I managed to get through the day.

What timing Mr Shingles. I have so much to do at hand atm, plus CNY is just 2 days away. I want to quickly recover for CNY and one of the ways is to Rest rest rest.. But how is that possible?! I have some stuff to do. So am contemplating whether 2 just push through and risk a slow recovery or just REST...

Just-so-that-u-would-not-be-afraid-of-me FACTS of SHINGLES!
  • It is caused by the same virus which causes chicken pox. And, chickenpox virus never leaves the body once you had them. It only stays dormant. Which also means that every chickenpox-ed person has this virus. So it doesnt spread. It'll only spread to a non-chickenpoxed person.

  • When the chicken pox virus is activated, one get shingles.

Welcome year 2010!

Happy New Year people!

Hope everyone had a great NYE celebration. No more standing in the cold waiting for fireworks this year for me, however, just had a modest yet extremely joyous one for me this year.

Anyways, I really liked this quote I stumbled upon somewhere on Facebook :

"Every one welcomes new year. Half of the population celebrates new year. One quarter sets goals but only one in a million works towards goals. We only live this life once. Why want to worry about petty things then? Lets wake the spirit in us and work towards our GOALS. May 2010 turns out to be your most auspicious year"

Yeah! Wake up the spirit and Jiayou people! Let's have a great year!
