infected!

Welcome to the week of infection!

First off, it was the

Throat Infection!

Oh btw, Im recovering.. I've got my voice back (emm around 80%). Coughs still accompany me thou'.. =( Still on medication, which explains my constant drowsiness n subsequently slight moodiness, don't worry, I still don't bite.

Secondly, a few days back..

Virus/Adware/Malware(etc) Infection!

As a Computer student, eek.. I should have known better. (I was greedily downloading freebies before this happened .. haha) It can be regarded as the 'smartest' virus(I don't even know if it is a virus or what) of the lot I have encountered ever!

Here are its symptoms:-
- It changes your desktop wallpaper into something else, with the message 'Your PC is infected (smth like tat)' in the middle.

- It cuts out any connection with any anti-virus/spyware/adware software websites, which means no access to AVG, AdAware, Spybot, blabla.. None! In other words, I cannot update any of my anti-virus/spyware/adware softwares.

- It distrupts googling! Every first 3 links(yeah.. erriely it is always d 1st 3 links!) from the results of a google search leads me to some other sites which are totally not related.. Their address was similar (http://go.google.com/....)

- It distrupts your websurfing experience. Examples, fonts are bigger than they typically are, and halfway through, a popup comes out stating that my PC is infected. No way to escape it, except to click 'OK' or 'x'. I just realised I can't even upload a pic to Blogger!

Solutions I took:

- Googled for some solutions, but still to no avail

- Scanned the whole PC repeatedly. Detected, removed the virus or 'whatever it is' already. But it still bugs my PC!

Possible Last Resort : REFORMAT! (Walao.. mafan lah)

Thirdly,

'Terms' Infection!

It seems like all the lectures recently are filled with many many new/old terms, jargons, whatever you call em. Which also means more memorising.. Which also mean torture! =(

Hands-on work? Yay!

Practicals? Yay!

Tutorials? Yay!

Lectures? No Yay!

Symptoms of 1-hr-bombarded-by-terms session:
- Dazed
- Bleary-eyed
- Yawns
- Growling tummy

Anyways that's the reality of lectures.. Lecturers have no choice but to cover the syllabus that they have to cover. What to do?

Alright, back to working on solving the 'virus'. May God bless me..

I can't talk!

I can't talk!!!

Yep, I've lost my voice for 2 days already.. I think to be exact, 2 and a half days since Wednesday night!

Being quiet as most of you know for most of the time, now I'm starting to appreciate the ability to talk.. haha

I went around wanting to look for a CMOS battery with this 'wonderful' condition of mine.. At one shop,

Me : Hi, do you sell CMOS battery here?
Saleslady : Huh, Small Mouse??
Me : -_-""

I was faced with lots of 'huh's, 'what's that's.. I think there are some sarcastic smiles as well due to my weird voice now .. @#$@!

I chose to go the 'Chinese medicine' route for cure instead of the English medicine route which will most likely end with antibiotics given to you and more costly! (I hope its a wise choice.. lol)

I wonder what is the cause.. haha..

Should be:
Too much late nights (source)
+

Lamb chop! (Had it on wednesday.. thus should be 1 of d factors)

Why lamb chop when u ain't feeling well?? (Ooh.. btw, muttons are known for their heatiness)
Its coz' of the 50% discount on that day. Haha.. From $18++ -> $9++. Why not?

It was at d'Other Office Restaurant. There were celebrating their 1 yr promo thus 50% off for the day on all food items. Its at Delima Satu. Its along the same block as HSBC Serusop.

To be honest, I was expecting more.

My views:

The bad
- That was a salty lamb chop.

- The dish was supposed to come with 'The dessert of the day'. But then somehow, the dessert came before the main dish! Not only that, the dessert was 2 slices of bread with butter nia! HAH!

- Besides that, the stuff there were freaking expensive! One small cup of teh tarik costs $2.50 and it didn't taste good some more! Nasi Ayam = $5.50!

- Their menu choice is very limited.

- To be not served when you enter a restaurant is very disappointing. We sat there for a while wondering whether it was a self-service restaurant or not, coz the menu never came and no waiters/ress noticed!

The good
- Nice ambience, its like being in a Western house?

- The boss is friendly.

- Opens at 7am!

- Should be popular with their Singaporean food? Everyone was ordering "Mee Rebus"( A popular Singaporean dish)

Saying of Singapore food, Anyone knows where I can get authentic Singaporean food in Brunei?? Dishes like Mee Siam, Mee Rebus.. ? List em down in the tagbox aight, and wish me well too lah.. hahaha

the 8am class

Most students shrug and sigh when the thought arises. Its the least favourite time for most students, I suppose.

The 8am class!

Why we don't really like 8am classes?

Its not just a class.. Haha..
Some of the sacrifices that comes along with this class are LACK OF SLEEP and TRAFFIC JAMS! which means long journey with lots of foot off-n-on-the-pedal action and yawning. Better not doze off when you're driving alone, else you'll risk bengkok-ing others' backs, which will further lead to worser jams.

What makes a 8am class worse?

When its the only class of the day! You wake ur ass up so early for just that 1 class! You'll be roughly back home at around 9++ am. Walao.. spoil my sleep nia. Haha

What makes a person so hard to decide whether to go to such a class?

Questions such as:

- Whether value of knowledge acquired in 1 class > cost of petrol and sleep time?
- Lack of sleep tend to be a factor into determining my day. You don't want ur day to be a day full of yawning and filled with sudden dozing bouts do you?

- No attendance taken! Thus will attending or not attending to that 1 class would be the difference between ur A or B grade?
- Heard of the quote "study smart, not study hard" ?

Walao.. 8am so late meh? You used to attend 7.15am classes daily w/o fail.

That was years ago. Somehow, university has so much less classes and no fixed start-of-school time. Guess the effect is that students somehow get used to this lifestyle that we slowly think that 8am is too early a class.

LOL.. Anyways, I still went to that class.
Decided to capture some moments of the journey, as I was freaking bored in the car.

Presenting to you:

The Chronicles of the journey to the 8 am class:

Left house around 7.25 am.

Met my good friend, the first jam when it was:

"7:32 am"

After some light foot action and also tagging along with another good buddy of mine, the second jam, I then met my best buddy, the 'third jam':

"7:49 am" - Start time for 3rd jam

Views of the 'third jam':

Great sights! Thanks buddy!

Arggh.. the heat!

A solution that was tempting. Go to the left, and balik rumah. I decided to tahan..

Its on a highway btw. And when there is a jam on it, chances are there is an accident. After a while, found out it was a just a minor car accident that caused this. Typical bump-to-the-back thing. Must be stupid tailgaters who think following others closely behind is cool.

"8:00 am" .. When I was freed from my ordeal..

FREEDOM! Step on it!

Vroom... Destination arrived.

"8:08 am" - Arrived in style with 1-time only back parking.

Not-very-surprisingly, I wasn't late for class. And lagi-not-very-surprisingly, the no. of students present were just a few - 5 to be exact.

Something interesting mentioned by my lecturer during class:-

Computer memory as we know, is fixed at the moment. When you buy a hard disk of 120 GB for example, its capacity stays as it is forever. It will never increase. However, there is some work going on to develop memory by using living organisms as memory? Which means that there is a possibility that the memory capacity of our future drives can increase by itself! Imagine the 120 GB hard disk becoming a 500 GB after a few years.. Whoa..

"9:10 am" - Head home!

Reached home. Time to clear out some work.

Nah.. Was busy watching TV instead. Lazy me. Haha

Yea yea.. I promise I'll start after I finish posting this. LOL

where's Brunei?

I sat diligently in front of the tv along with my family to witness the opening ceremony of the 08 Olympics Games.

The performances were very impressive indeed. I liked the intro and the part where the boxes(controlled by humans) went up n down part. haha

Nvm that, then came the athletes' march.

Of course, the country I was looking forward to see during the march was our beloved nation of course.

Slowly one-by-one, countries marched out...

Wa! Kirilenko holding the flag!

..wait..

Is that Dirk Nowitzki? Yes. He looks so damn happy hahaha

..phew..

Commentator says "90++ countries out already"

.. be patient..

Wow.. Kazakhstan seemed to have the most beautiful female athletes! LOL

.. walao so long..

Team USA! Kobe!

.. ... ..

Commentator says, "10 countries left"

.. ah.. must be close already! ..

9,8,7,6,5,4.. Commentator mentioned the names of the last 3 countries and the team I had been waiting for the whole evening ain't on the list!

!!! I must have missed it during the toilet breaks.. argh

Then decided to google "Brunei Olympic March". Who knows if someone already uploaded the pics on our march.

Guess what? The results:-

!!!

They did not register in time for the opening march! LOL.. What happened? Their registration form masuk longkang when they wanted to submit ah?

Nah.. nvm lah.. Not that important.

Then.. I spotted this line.

"Brunei is now the only IOC member not competing in the Beijing Games which will now see 204 participating nations."

!!!

What does that mean?! Brunei ain't gonna compete??

Guess the answers will(or maybe not) be on tomorrow's papers. I wanna know what is going on!

Survived!

Yes I SURVIVED!

Survived the 5-game marathon that is..

Haha.. I ain't gonna make a big fuss of it thou' as there were people who were much off worser than me. They played for the whole damn day! - Futsal in the morning until basketball at night! Phew... Superhumans!

The main concern for the night was surprisingly not whether I had enough to go on or not stamina-wise (It was of course tiring), but it was actually the blisters I had on my big toes(esp. the left), that were main cause of agony. Halfway thru', I even decided to wear 2 socks in the hope that it would create more cushion and thus less pain for my toe!

Anyways the 5-game journey of my team were:

Win! Win! Win! Win! but then .. we LOST in d last game. =( Making it 4 wins and 1 loss.

Drained~~

From my own view, to be honest, I guess the whole team played really well that night. It was only at the last hurdle that we stumbled. Our shots don't seem to fall in anymore n everything went against our way.. We crumpled to defeat eventually.

Ok, nvm that.. a few of the interesting moments on that day :

Gasp!~ Mc Grady!

"Wah.. Ref trying to do the 'Statue of Liberty' pose ah? "

Ah Ping wana hold hands with the guy in white!

"Drink 100 Plus!" ad
Plus featuring the return of the Hau and the King aka Seng

Result of "Just do it" + "Drink 100 Plus!" haha

Lastly :

Us all.. Dunno where's Wei thou'
